I did this portrait of my friend Elki. My aim was to create a montage of her doing her makeup as if she was getting ready to go on a date. I had a lot of fun experimenting with extreme close-ups, mirror shots and the breaking of the fourth wall in order to achieve a sense of intimacy.
However, when I was editing I felt quite limited because I had not shot a great volume of footage. The shots that ended up in the edit were pretty much all of the ones I took. Additionally, I tried to time the straight cuts with the music but some of my shots were not long enough and so I had to slow them down.
The main thing I took away from this project was to film more footage than I thought I needed in future projects.
