Visual Postcards Edit

Editing snapshots of Stratford as the sun goes down. I compiled the videos I took from last week’s snapshots to edit them into a new piece of moving image. I already had some previous experience with editing from A-Level media, but on Premiere Pro. So editing on DaVinci is new to me. I found it relatively easy to get the hang of though, because the main editing elements are quite similar to premiere pro.

I found my shots were not as static as I would have preferred though, and I tried to create an edit order which follows a certain narrative, but maybe if I were to do it again I would try to create an edit which is more abstract and visually interesting.

Week 2: Visual Postcards

Seasons- Fall. https://mediacentral.ucl.ac.uk/Play/115291

Nature- Flowers. https://mediacentral.ucl.ac.uk/Play/115289

Buildings- V&A East. https://mediacentral.ucl.ac.uk/Play/115293

These shots were taken along my walk to a garden in Stratford. Initially, I had planned to film during golden hour but ended up only catching the end of it. This is nicely seen in the V&A reflection of the remaining sunlight which I thought was quite eye-catching in the distance.

Ideally- there would have been more light in the shots of the flowers and leaves. I wanted to capture a close up of the beauty of flowers moving with the wind, which I think was quite nice especially with the focus on the forefront ones and the blur of the others. Also, just wanted to capture the change of seasons- a visual postcard of Autumn in London.
