Welcome to the Education Conference 2022

Welcome!

UCL has been holding internal teaching and learning conferences in a variety of forms to share interesting practice and stimulate discussion for nearly 20 years.

Every year the UCL Education Conference (formerly the Teaching and Learning Conference) brings together the UCL education community to share innovative and exciting practice and highlight solutions to perennial challenges in teaching and learning.

Staff and students present in a range of formats about any issue pertinent to teaching and learning, and sessions are designed to facilitate discussion among the whole UCL community.

Asynchronous sessions

We welcome you back to a wholly in-person Education Conference on the day. Here are a number of interesting asynchronous sessions for which we thank our contributors. This blog is intended to act as a hub for engagement before, during and after the day itself; comments will be enabled for UCL staff and students.

There is a listing by theme of all the asynchronous sessions on the Teaching and Learning Portal but if you know who or what you’re looking for, the Search box, Recent posts or Post Themes & Categories blocks on the right should get you there from anywhere on this site.

UCL Education Conference, 6 April 2022

The main programme can be viewed online on the UCL Teaching and Learning portal or downloaded as a table. Some presenters or speakers may choose post their slides and/or notes here. In such cases, presenters or speakers will be able to join in the discussion via any comments added.

Overview of the Day

Full information can be found here. The Conference registration opens at 9.00. Dr Michael Spence, UCL President and Provost will give a Welcome address at 9.50. He is followed by the keynote by Professor David Boud in conversation with Professor Mary Richardson. A range of parallel sessions follows. Then, after lunch at 14.00 Professor Kathy Armour, Vice-Provost (Education and Student Experience) will talk on The Future of UCL Education before announcing the shortlist of UCL Education Awards. The afternoon sees more parallel sessions interspersed by a tea and coffee break. We cap the day off from 17.00 with a drinks reception.
