Evidence-Based Feedback Practices – Dr Anna Newman-Griffis

Querying students’ feedback about their learning is one of the key elements of an excellent and constantly improving teaching practice. However, many of the ways in which we ask students for their opinions can be at best unhelpful for our practice, and at worst counter-productive to our goals. While research is limited in terms of how best to solicit and interpret student feedback, some tools and best practices do exist in the literature. In this presentation, I will review some of the current literature on student feedback, and provide examples from the literature and my own experience that I hope can help others become more conversant in feedback strategies.
