The welcome message on your Moodle course may be the first introduction that students have to you and the course.  The first section on your course should be the ‘Welcome’ section. Please find below a word document with example text that you could use as well as a visual screen shot of an example welcome section.

Example welcome text

In addition to the welcome text, you may wish to link to a more detailed welcome message that could be in the form a of a short video (2-3mins max) or a brief text based message.

In your detailed welcome message try and include:

  • Your name and role.
  • What the module covers and what students will learn on the module. You may want to add why you enjoy teaching the module/why you have a passion for the subject.
  • How teaching will take place on the course – e.g. a weekly lecture, tutorial, lab class.
  • How students will be assessed.
  • What is contained in the Moodle course. e.g. lecture recordings, detailed assessment information, links to lecture and library resources, activities to complete.
  • Importance of attendance and engagement.
  • How to contact the module team if students have any queries or concerns.
