Top 10 Eats Around Campus

If the large variety of campus cafés has somehow bored you, you might want to try some of these student favourites to buy your next lunchtime meal or snack.

1. Bloomsbury Farmers’ Market (Birkbeck/SOAS courtyard)- Thursdays

This Farmers’ Market hosts a delicious selection of farmed, or locally sourced, sustainable, produce to serve as your breakfast, brunch, lunch dinner or anything in between. There are benches nearby or great picnic spots in Gordon Square. Bring your own bags and food containers to save plastic! 

2. Icco Pizza (46 Goodge Street – also in Camden!) – 7 Days a week

You deserve a pizza after all that revision. Head over to Icco, only a few minutes walk from campus, to satisfy any cravings for dough without spending any. Take a look at the Icco’s website for more

3. The Lunchbox café at Student Central (Malet Street)- Open weekdays

This café offers a large selection of dishes and snacks to satisfy any craving you might have, including jacket potatoes, sandwiches, sushi and much more. Check out the Student Central website for opening times, as well as information on other facilities at student central. 

4. The Gallery at Student Central (Malet Street)- Monday to Friday

The Gallery is one of many places to eat and drink at Student Central, so pop over for lunch or dinner. If you’re staying on till later, there are bars or even The Venue, a space for performances and clubbing. Take a look at Student Central’s website for more information on these spaces. 

5. Japanese Canteen (Tottenham Court Road) – 7 days a week 

Bored of sandwiches? Soup not cutting it? Check out the Japanese Canteen to sink your teeth into some teriyaki dishes, dumplings, Dan Dan, Katsu curries or noodle soups. Check out the canteen’s website for more information.

6. Waterstones Café (Gower Street)- 7 days a week

If you fancy a different study space, want to browse some books or have a slice of cake to hurry your essay along, Waterstones Café is a great option. Less than a minute from campus, it’s not somewhere to miss. Have a look at Waterstones’ website for more information. 

7. Hare Krishna (next to SOAS)-  Monday to Saturday

Hare Krishna is a religious organisation, and is a denomination of Hinduism. It works with the UK-based food charity ‘Food For All’ to feed different members of the community, including students. Look out for the rickshaw and join the queue!

8. Tottenham Court Road International Food Market (Tottenham Court Road)- Monday to Friday

If you fancy eating something different, this lunchtime option offers a variety of cuisines to choose from. Queue up, grab a box, and enjoy there or head back to campus. 

9. Falafel Stall (Portico of St. Pancras Church, 16 Woburn Place)

This vibrant stall near King’s Cross, offers packed boxes of falafel, humous, salad and more,  for great student value. This is a great option for something to grab on your way to or from campus.

10. The Roti King (40 Doric Way)- Wednesday to Saturday

This tucked-away restaurant offers great value Malaysian food. Sit in this cosy space and dig in to Canai (Malaysian flat breads), Roti, rice and noodles. Check out the restaurant’s website for more information.
