I really enjoyed the module Cardiovascular systems in health and disease (medc004), this module really help me apply my knowledge of my cardiovascular mechanisms to real world application in novel blood pressure treatments. The task involved reading through 2 articles on novel treatments in reducing high blood pressure including renal artery denervation and carotid barrow receptor stimulation respectively. Ultimately we had to produce an inter-related diagram with a 700 word figure legend explaining the mechanisms and effectiveness of the treatment. This work provided skill development in summarising key content as the word count was very strict, meaning we had to carefully select the information needed for the figure legend to to provide as much mechanistic detail as possible.
I
Inter-related diagram showing the mechanisms behind renal artery denervation and Carotid barrow receptor stimulation treatment to reduce blood pressure.
On reflection the diagram we produced was effective in presenting the major mechanisms behind the treatment however a further level of research was necessary to achieve a greater mark for this work. Also we discovered that we had a few formatting and grammatical errors, which going into further coursework knowing how essential the re-reading process is.
