Sports Pathology Information Video

I really enjoyed the module Functional Anatomy and Medical Imaging (surg0169).  I had a foundation of anatomy from  secondary school and I was eager to expand my knowledge in application of functional anatomy related to sports pathology.

For the assessment, we were asked to create a patient information video on a common sports  Pathology outlining functional anatomy, mechanism of injury and suitable imaging modalities that can be used for diagnosis.  This task required a variety of key skills including : research, collaboration with peers, script writing and video design with use of  multimedia.

Another aspect of the assessment was to make the video easily digestible by a person from non-scientific background.  We ensured this via the use of simple animations to help explain the functional anatomy surrounding the chosen  pathology which in our case was hip impingement. The examiners comments,  ” great animations,  well explained with a  very  clear pitch at the correct level for a patient”. This   demonstrates that we were effective in making the video suitable for the target audience.
