EXPERIENCE

June – July 2021Chemistry Teaching Assistant , UCL Department of Chemistry

Designing online material and crafting a new Moodle module to provide formative lab resources for new researchers. Required use of LateX, programming skills and HTML.

December – January 2020/21 – Chemistry Winter Connected Learning Internship, UCL Department of Chemistry

Designing online material for first year chemistry modules to support distance learning, such as writing quizzes, curating Moodle pages and producing graphics, ensuring high engagement for students despite online learning.

June – August 2020Chemistry Teaching Assistant, Lab_14, UCL Department of Chemistry

Experiment designer and tester for at-home labs system designed for incoming first year students due to COVID-19 interruptions, required problem solving skills, primary data collection and experimental design skills, thinking out potential issues for students and liaising with academics to provide a solution to the social distancing limitations in academic laboratories. Awarded Maths and Physical Sciences Faculty Education Award 2020.

2020 – 2021 – Transition Mentor, UCL Department of Chemistry

Spent two years guiding first year undergraduates in the transition to university life through weekly meetings.

2017 – 2020 – Part time work as a Games Master at an Escape Room and as a Customer Service Assistant at RHS Hyde Hall.

RESPONSIBILITIES

2019 – 2021 – Student President (Co-Secretary) of Chemical and Physical Society, University College London

Required organisation of weekly events with 50-100 attendees and yearly events of 200+ attendees, whilst managing a society of more than 1,500 members. Dedicated an average of 10h/week to CPS outside of study time whilst remaining up to date with university work. Committee member for 2 years, organising weekly academic speeches, designing merchandise and publicity graphics, managing committee roles, and arranging social events for the staff and students of the Chemistry Department. Doubled the amount of talks between the 2019/20 and 2020/21 academic years, and moved delivery online in response to coronavirus, whilst maintaining high attendance and engaging prestigious speakers such as Dr Dawn Shaughnessy and Professor Omar Yaghi.

2020/21 Committee was nominated for a Provost Education Award in 2021 in acknowledgement of the exceptional work the committee did in raising community spirit during online delivery.

2016 – 2017 – Head Girl, The Sandon School

Responsibilities included chairing school council meetings, presenting assemblies, writing and giving speeches at open evenings, organisation of the Summer Ball, mentoring duties. Ran weekly school Science Club, conveying scientific ideas to students from Years 7-13.

AWARDS

2021UCL Provost Education Award, two nominations – as part of Lab_14 team, and as part of the CPS Committee.

2020UCL Maths and Physical Sciences Faculty Education Award, awarded to the Lab_14 team.

2017Jack Petchey Award 

Awarded in recognition of dedication to mentoring duties and associated work at The Sandon School. Donated the prize grant to the science department.
