Innovation Lab is a programme for independent student-led summer projects for students on the Natural Sciences Programme.
In small groups of students, participants identify and work on a project related to Natural Sciences. Students do not have to be present at UCL to participate, and it is open to all students from years 1 – 4. We especially encourage first years to consider taking part.
The programme kicks off at the end of Term 3 when we will support you in identifying project ideas and forming a project team. There will be an in-person session where you can discuss your ideas with fellow students.
Over the summer you will work on your project, and then report your results during a ‘student showcase’ event during Induction Week.
Projects
Students are free to identify their own projects, and in previous years these have been extremely diverse. For example:
-
- Investigating the Antikythera mechanism (video)
- AstroMatters, a web site about astronomy for young people
- A project to discover and document the career pathways taken by former Natural Sciences students
- Improving disability support for Natural Sciences students
