On this blog you will find all the information required to use the object icebreaker templates.
About Object Icebreakers:
These icebreakers were created in 2021 by two UCL Arts and Sciences BASc students, Yasmin Jiang and Amina Reeb as part of a UCL Arena ChangeMakers project dedicated to funding and supporting students and staff who want to work together to enhance the learning experience of students at UCL.
The students worked in collaboration with Tannis Davidson (Head of Zoology and Science Collections) Dr Thomas Kador (BASc) and Dr Nina Pearlman (Head of UCL Art Collections).
Object Icebreakers are intended to be used as part of online or blended learning and engagement sessions or meetings with larger number of participants.
- Getting a group of participants to work together for the first time
- Encouraging creative and critical thinking
- Helping participants talk about their mood and wellbeing
- Helping groups open up and be more comfortable around each other
- Introducing a ‘fun’ element before wrapping up the teaching session or a meeting
- Assessing the general mood in the group of participants after a session or learning about a new concept
This is a pilot that is being tested and further developed. We therefore value your feedback. It also about building a community of practice around UCL’s diverse and rich collections. Please do help us learn and grow by leaving your comments in the comments thread.
We hope you enjoy these Object Icebreaker activities.
