Hello Penelope
My first Professional Learning Initiative; Planning!
Planning is something that I find hard to start off with but once I have the idea and confidence. I can get on with it.
As a Personal Trainer I planned a lot of training programmes for my clients so I am trying to transfer the skills to the role of teacher.
However I am a little concerned as I feel I lack some experience. It has been almost 5 years since I worked with young children.
I kept reflecting back to the R.E lecture few weeks ago with a teacher I am unable to remember her name. We picked an object and started to create a mind map of what we could teach this and I loved it. I should start doing this more to build my ideas and become more creative in my teaching.
I feel this is an essential skill as a teacher and should be incorporated in my daily life as much to become an exceptional organised teacher.
I know the children learn best in a structured safe happy environment and this starts with teachers who plan well. It will give me the confidence to teach.
In SE1b placement, I plan to work with the teachers, ask them to include me in their planning and how they stretch the lessons/weeks out. I am looking forward to observe the lessons and build up my ideas of being an organised confident and fun teacher. I will ask for their planning copies and when I teach, I will ask for their opinions and feedbacks.
I have started writing down in my notepad and playing with the planning proformas and looking at the attachments Charlotte has sent me to prepare myself better before I start!
Dear James
This is not the correct space for you to enter your PLA. This is a chat tool that we tend not to use. Please go to ‘Visit Site’ and you will then see your PLA there. You should be able to cut and paste this into the various headings.
https://reflect.ucl.ac.uk/primary-pgce-pla-2021-james-cowdrill/pla/ This is the link that I have which should also take you there.
