With the sudden cold settling over London and so many of us finding our footing in a new place and pace of life, November felt like the right moment to slow down. To help create a sense of steadiness, I organised a small art workshop that gave our cohort a chance to step back from the rush and reconnect.
We drew names from a bowl and spent time painting a card for the classmate we picked while music played softly in the background. As we worked, we passed around a few simple questions that opened quiet conversations about how we felt after reading week and what we hoped for in December. The session also strengthened my skills as a representative, particularly in planning and holding a space where everyone felt at ease. For the cohort, it was a moment to slow down and see one another beyond the classroom. A small gesture, yet it showed how creativity and conversation can help build a thoughtful and cohesive community.
