Module Description
Serious 21st Century city challenges – climate and ecological crisis, with severe impacts – overheating, air and water pollution, flooding, lack of green space and rapid loss of biodiversity.
Severe social, ecological, environmental and economic impacts, especially on health and wellbeing of people and planetary systems.
Greening cities by working with nature is recognized as providing ecosystem services to cool, clean and care for the city, creating climate-adapted, healthy, resilient environments that support people and nature.
Nature-based solutions are the EU’s strategy for urban climate change adaptation.
By exploring nature-based solutions creatively through a range of processes, students will learn the principles and applications of biodiverse urban green infrastructure planning, design, implementation, management and care, to deliver ecosystem services and benefits as a key part of climate and ecological recovery.
