We’re delighted to announce the first moderated run of Connecting and Sharing Learning from Global Migration Research CoMOOC (Co-designed Massive Open Online Collaboration) from 14th July 2025 to 1st Aug 2025.

This CoMOOC is the culmination of nearly a decade of collaborative research and engagement in migration research, showcasing examples from projects by the Migration Leadership Team, Connecting During Covid, and many others. Co-developed with researchers, practitioners, artists, migrants and activists, the CoMOOC offers a participatory space to reflect on co-design, ethical collaboration, and creative practice in migration research. By engaging with the course, you can also help to shape future iterations of the CoMOOC by sharing your insights and experiences.
The course will explore three core themes:
- Co-design: Collaborative agenda-setting and partnership building
- Ethics: Reflecting on power, equity, and responsibility in research
- Creativity: Integrating arts and alternative knowledge systems
Participation is free. All you need to do is join the course and register with FutureLearn if you are not already registered.
We recommend that you start the moderated run with us in the week starting 14 July 2025, but feel free to join at any time as the course is available on demand. We anticipate that the time commitment will be between 2-3 hours per week.
Please share the link with anyone who may be interested in rethinking how we learn, research, and work together in the field of migration studies.
The team behind this CoMOOC is Prof. Elaine Chase, Prof. Laura Hammond, Prof. Kavita Datta, and Dr Iris Lim. We plan to organise a webinar following the first run of the CoMOOC to discuss these possibilities further. We hope you’ll join us in this exciting collaborative journey!
