Personal Formulary

An essential part of your role as a Pharmacist is to have a deep foundation of knowledge about drugs and medicines. To support your learning in this area, as a school of Pharmacy, we have identified a list of “Top 100 Drugs” that you will need to know about by the end of your 4 years with us.

These drugs and medicines represent the key drugs that are used in current practice, are leading drugs in their therapeutic class and cover a range of formulations.

By the end of your 1st year you will have discovered, interpreted and recorded key areas of information for 25 drugs from the Top 100 drugs list. This collected information will be known as your “Personal Formulary”.

Creating your formulary is not about copying information from various references, it’s about demonstrating you have gain a deeper learning of what these drugs are, how they work and how they are used – your marks for this section will reflect this.

Remember to include your references e.g. book name and chapter or website.

Don’t use words you don’t understand – look them up and include an explanation!
