Concluding thoughts & disclaimer

[Last modified: March, 22 2019 01:06 PM]

Thank you for having followed us through our virtual exhibition. You’ve made it to the end!

We hope that you have seen how each object in this collection have elements of sacrifice, from how they were created, what materials they are made out of, and who they are associated with.

From exhibiting these objects online virtually, their ability to take up physical space is lost. We have displaced them from their place in history into an format fit for the modern era. In doing so, we sacrificed their three-dimensional, physical presence in order to put them together to create this virtual exhibition.

Of course, these objects can still be found in their original collections. But when we look at their images and descriptions online, we must understand that they are only a representation of these objects, and a lot of meaning has been ‘sacrificed’ in the process of documenting them. So, we encourage you to seek out the objects that interest you at UCL. The map below will show you where to go.
