This is the Steiff Titanic Centenary Teddy Bear EAN 66415. It was made by Steiff in 1912 to mourn the passing of the 1513 passengers that lost their lives when the Titanic sank. The bears were black to allude to mourning clothes, the red thread around the eyes supposed to look like they had cried. The weeks after the disaster the 494 bears were displayed in shops all around London, selling out quickly.
