[SPBC x UCL Law Society] Karaoke Fundraiser

On 17 November 2022, UCL SPBC collaborated with the UCL Law Society to organise a karaoke fundraiser at the Richard Mully’s Basement Bar. The event was open to all students, and those who wished to contribute were encouraged to purchase the tickets priced at £5 each.

The aim of the event was to raise funds for charity organisations that run social programmes for the vulnerable class. All funds raised were donated to Spark Inside and Mind. Spark Inside is a registered charity that aims to support rehabilitation within the criminal justice system. Aspiring to drive culture change and reduce the possibility of reoffending, they provide coaching programmes to prison inmates residing across London and the Southeast. On the other hand, Mind empowers people with mental health issues by providing advice and support. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness, and promote understanding on issues relating to health services, legislation, protection of legal rights and employment.

The event successfully sold 70 tickets and raised approximately £350 in total. The committee received encouraging responses from the students, who expressed their enthusiasm about partaking in raising funds for charity organisations. SPBC would like to thank everyone who attended the event and the bar staff for providing technical and logistical support. SPBC would also like to express their gratitude towards the UCL Law Society for assisting in social media campaigns. The services of charity organisations are more in demand than before, and funding is essential to prevent disruptions in this time of austerity. SPBC looks forward to delivering more activities to get students involved in Pro Bono meaningfully.
