This is a photo taken from the cliffs after a sea swim off the Isle of Portland, Dorset, in April 2021. During this past year, when I’ve had more time at home on the South West coast, I have started wild swimming, and especially cold water winter swimming. I’ve never been a swimmer before – in fact, I’ve always hated swimming and especially being cold. I’d never even swam in the sea in the UK before this year. But now I love it. It’s been a life changing experience for me and has really helped me with my physical and mental health this year. I swim several times a week, usually at least once in the sea, as well as in a river near my house. I feel really lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country and I’m grateful this year has given me time to appreciate that
