In my most recent musings about the nature of teaching and learning on my morning commute I was thinking about my role as a teacher/trainer/instructor.
This role is akin to that of the conductor of an orchestra. We chose the pieces, our curriculum and lesson plans, and guide the musicians with our instructions. The better we guide, usually the better the result. However, ultimately, it is the musicians, learners, that make the music or the learning happen.
When everything is in sync, the learning space can be like an award winning symphony orchestra, with co-construction of learning.
On other days, you can feel more like The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, barely able to keep everything under control and expecting it all to collapse like a pack of cards at any second. Sometimes this just happens, things go awry, especially when working with technology. Other times it is due to lack of preperation or imposter syndrome.
More to follow.
