ABC Learning Design is a proven method to develop new programmes and review existing provision. Teaching teams work together to create a ‘storyboard’ visualising the learner journey, combining learning types to create powerful learning patterns. Digital tools are increasingly used to scaffold and enhance these learning patterns but using them effectively is complex as the affordances of digital tools change according to context. The APT Methodology, short for the Alignment of Pedagogy and Technology, uses an updated definition of affordance to try and address this problem; it quantifies affordance given a specific pedagogic context.
Presenters: Dr Rich Osborne & Dr Clive Young
The presenters had previously shared the products of their collaboration at a conference, a recording of which is included below which outlines the ABC methodology, the APT methodology and how they work in synergy to quantify the value of digital tools. There is further information available on the ABC website blog. You can also access the draft version of the UCL Tech Trumps online (still a work in progress).
