UCL – IOE Primary PGCE Specialism Research Journal

A closer look at professional practice enquiries in classrooms

Welcome

Welcome

We are very pleased to have you visit this site, and to explore practitioner research projects completed by our Primary PGCE students at the Institute of Education UCL. Our Primary PGCE offers a master’s level Specialism module, which supports our graduates possibly going on later in their career to become Specialist leads in the subjects offered. As part of this module the students must complete a small-scale teacher enquiry, exploring an aspect of their professional practice and learning in this subject. The culmination of the module is an examination, in which the student teacher gives a presentation of their ‘research’ and as follow-up, has a short viva with the two examiners. The research reports you see here, have been reviewed by two tutors from the programme.

Aim

Our aim

This online journal space offers our student teachers the opportunity to disseminate their practitioner research enquiries to a wider audience. By sharing their findings and insights we aim to expand the professional knowledge base of teachers. We invite you here, as a reader, to build on the curiosities of our student teachers and take these into your classrooms for further exploration. We also aim to celebrate the exceptional practice and scholarship of our students as a community with projects from nine different subjects offered on the MA Specialism Module, on the PGCE Primary Programme, at the Institute of Education, UCL.
