Calling all UCL researchers – creators – artists – techies – visionaries – teachers – writers – curators – thinkers – designers – learners – tinkerers – data wranglers – inventors – coders – dreamers – facilitators #LearnHack is back
LearnHack is a hackathon is a community event at UCL that embraces the collaborative spirit of hackathons, providing a platform for diverse individuals, regardless of background or skill level, to shape the use of technology in teaching and learning. The next LearnHack will take place on Saturday/Sunday 26-28 January 2024 at the UCL School of Management, Canary Wharf and online. See the website for more information.
The event will centre around three distinct theme areas, each offering a unique lens through which participants can delve into the intersection of education and technology. The first theme, Generative Artificial Intelligence: Exploring Issues in Educational Settings, encourages the exchange of ideas, policy reviews, and ethical discussions surrounding AI integration in education. The second theme, Intersection: Making AI Work for Us, targets tech enthusiasts, promoting the development of tools that seamlessly combine AI with Assessment & Feedback, addressing responsible AI use and ethical considerations. The third theme, Assessment & Feedback: Get Involved in Improving Assessment and Feedback, is tailored for those keen on refining assessment processes, exploring tools, and enhancing support materials, with a focus on peer assessment, ePortfolios, marking criteria clarity, and constructive student feedback.
We are once again looking for your ideas and your talents to make UCL a better place – join us for a weekend of learning, exploring and building “cool stuff” together!
Got an idea already? Submit your project proposal here (deadline 18th Jan 2024). The event is open to all with a UCL email address.
Don’t worry if you can’t write a single line of code – you will have plenty of other valuable skills and ideas to contribute to the event! And our event facilitators will do their best to match your skills and ideas with teams.
