Pages

What are Pages?

Pages are best suited to publish information and content that you rarely update. They can be linked and accessed via a menu that you can customise and reorganise.

If you look closely at a page you will see it is normally made up of:

  1. Page Title – tells the reader what the page is about.
  2. Your page content – this is information you want to share on this page

In your dashboard, the “pages” section  enables you to view all pages in one repository, regardless of how many pages have been created across your website or blog. It makes it easy to navigate between pages across the whole website, and make bulk actions through multiple selections.

Let’s start with the basics!

When building your blog, you will normally follow the following steps regarding pages:

  1. Write the content for your page (usually on an external Word document)
  2. Create a new page: Just like posts, the way you write a post depends on if you are using the classic editor or the block editor. You can publish a post using different formats as different templates and options are available to you. You can also copy posts and templates to make your blog look more consistent.
  3. Sort your content and posts: using categories and tags is an effective way to sort the different kind of content you have displayed on your blog. Want to know the difference? Categories are like chapters of a book; they provide a general overview of the topics you blog about. Whereas tags are more like the index at the back of the book and explode the topic into a million bits.
  4. Edit a post: You can edit posts individually or bulk edit posts to make systemic changes to already published or drafted posts
  5. Delete a post: don’t want a post anymore? you can either hide it from the public and publish it later, or fully delete a post on your blog. The history of your posts’ revisions is available and accessibly even if you delete posts.
  6. Schedule a post: away for a few days and still want to post content on your blog? You can schedule posts to be released by a certain date and time in advance.
  7. Create a new page
  8. Publish and edit your pages
  9. Write template pages (Contact, About pages…)

You can edit the hierarchy of your pages into “menus” under the “appearance” button in the dashboard sidebar on the left-hand side.
