Users

What are Users?

There are a range of different options for managing users and your user information. When you set up a website you have the ability to add and remove users, this means the possibility of adding new users to work on your website with you, or give restricted access to other users. The users setting is also where you will be able to customise your own profile, avatar (profile picture) and other personal settings. Those are important aspects for blogging, to make your blog and community more personal and engaged with your content.

Let’s start with the basics!

When building your blog, you will normally follow the following steps regarding users:

  1. Edit your profile (opens in a new tab): configure your user settings, including your display name, changing and retrieving your passwords and login info
  2. Add new users (opens in a new tab): add new users to work on the same blog or website as you and collaborate together.
  3. Remove users (opens in a new tab): After having added new users to your website, you can remove them when necessary, or change their access from full to restricted (see ‘user roles‘).
  4. Assign user roles (opens in a new tab): Decide which users of your website become administrators, editors, authors, contributors or remain simple subscribers.
