IDEAs are theory-informed ‘recipes’ for activities designed to scaffold and support teaching in online or blended contexts, and particularly useful to those newer to teaching, such as postgraduate teaching assistants (PGTAs). They were designed by Arena and Digital Education and are hosted on a dedicated blog. IDEAs can be used to enhance active learning (Prince, 2004), and to enhance feedback practice and preparation for assessment in a flexible and playful way across disciplines.

Each IDEA comes with a set of instructions about how to adapt it to different learning scenarios or different teaching approaches. We showcase examples of practice and engagement with the resource, and they will be modeled in the work of one of our PGTAs, Nidal, who has been actively using the resource and contributing to the IDEAS blog.
